Is 2026 the Year of Rum™? Will there ever be an actual Year of Rum™? Maybe we don't need to concern ourselves with industry babble and marketing bumf. Maybe we should be celebrating that there are more producers from more corners of the globe making better liquid than ever. In 2026, let's live every day like we're worthy of opening the bottles we usually save for a special occasion. You are the special occasion.
This isn’t about predicting the future or crowning the next big thing. It’s about what’s actually exciting to drink as we head into 2026. The bottles we keep coming back to. The ones we argue about. The ones we open for friends and then quietly hope they don’t drink too much of.
You’ll find big names doing things properly, smaller producers pushing boundaries, and variety. Different styles, flavours, and approaches. Some are for sipping, some are more for mixing, all of them earn their space on the shelf. If you’re even vaguely rum-curious, this is where you start. And if you like your rum honest, flavour-first, and made by people who care, you’ll get on just fine here.

This is the bottle that proved flavoured rum could be clever and still wildly fun. It's built around real Queen Victoria pineapples and a proper multi-stage process involving infusion, distillation, ageing, and a lot of patience, Stiggins’ Fancy tastes like roasted pineapple, soft spice, and gentle funk, making it equally at home in a Daiquiri or nicked straight from the shelf. It’s playful, yes, but also impeccably made. A modern classic hiding in plain sight.

Foursquare Mandamus - Exceptional Cask Selection Mark XXIX

This is Foursquare doing what Foursquare does best: calmly reminding everyone else to catch up. Mandamus starts with a blend of pot and column still rum, spends a decade in bourbon casks, then luxuriates for another six years in tawny Port wood. The trademark distillery balance weaves together jammy berries, polished oak, and warming spice at a hefty 57% ABV. But watering it down would be rude.

Sustainable ENGLISH SPICED RUM
Two Drifters Lightly Spiced Rum

Sustainability and flavour are not mutually exclusive, you know. Two Drifters built a carbon-negative distillery in Devon, then went one step further by flavouring this rum with upcycled cacao husks from UK chocolatiers. Clever and delicious. Expect soft vanilla, chai warmth, toffee apple sweetness, and a gentle cocoa note. It's a spiced rum for people who usually hate spiced rum. Which is exactly the point.
"Fermented, pot distilled and spiced by B Corp Two Drifters in Devon. They're making carbon negative (!) rums that are "absolutely amazing" [enthusiastically, an octave higher than normal] according to Matthew Goode off of The Wine Show (as well as Downton Abbey and Dept Q). With bottles like this, we're inclined to agree.
British Navy (Caribbean) rum

No messing about here. This is traditional British naval rum at full volume, blended to the Admiralty recipe and bottled at gunpowder proof. Rich, oily, and gloriously old-school, it brings treacle, liquorice, dark sugar, and a warming, chest-thumping finish. It’s not subtle and it’s not meant to be. This rum salutes you, then knocks you over with a cannon for good measure.
