Finger Lime Gin (That Boutique-y Gin Company)

Unusual fruit alert! That Boutique-y Gin Company got its hands on some finger limes all the way from Australia for this zesty gin – they look pretty weird, with a texture a bit like caviar, but they make awesome gin.

But here's the catch – finger limes aren't really a citrus at all! Or maybe they are. Apparently they're something called a Microcitrus, which is a related genus. The long and short of it is that it's up for debate whether they ought to be included in the Citrus genus or not. Something to discuss while you sip this aromatic tipple.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

A fresh nose with sour lemon and sharp limes first, before there’s savoury juniper and the hearty spice of cumin and peppercorn.

Palate

Key lime pie and icing sugar, with touches of Parma violets, fennel, vanilla and a pinch of grapefruit.

Finish

Short, with a slightly perfumed conclusion.

Overall

Fascinating, a truly unusual gin.
