Bowmore 34 Year Old 1989 (cask 1972) (Limited)
This single malt from Bowmore is brought to us by independent bottler Limited, following an impressive 34-year maturation! The Islay whisky was distilled in 1989 and matured in a bourbon hogshead, then treated to a 10-month finish in a sherry cask before bottling in 2023. A release of 162 bottles.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose
Aromas of bonfire embers, barbecued meats, and stewed prunes combine with fruitiness from the wood – notes of cherries, dried apricots, butterscotch, and vanilla fudge.
Palate
Coal smoke, aged oak, lime marmalade, and dark fruits are present, and the oily mouthfeel beautifully coats the palate.
Finish
The sherry influence slowly fades, revealing notes of dark chocolate, aniseed, and wood spice, resulting in a long and gentle finish.
