An incredible high strength Caol Ila, especially when considering the age! This was distilled in 1975, and was bottled for Diageo's Rare Malts series. These old Rare Malts are well worth a try, as you can find some real gems.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Apples on the nose, with cinder toffee, peat, samphire, smoke and sea salt.
Palate
Rich and very smoky with huge notes of pepper and spice. Peppermint too, and brine, oily lapsang souchong, apple and marzipan.
Finish
Long, bittersweet, with notes of almond oil, cocoa and peat smoke.
