Fettercairn 14 Year Old 2007 (Thompson Bros.)
A fab indie bottling from Fettercairn, distilled in 2007 and matured for 14 years in a pair of refill American oak casks. After this rest, the casks were cracked open by Thompson Bros. to produce a total of 508 bottles. You could say that makes this rather scarce, much like the rainbow-maned unicorn on the label. Don't see them wandering about all too often.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Sweet roasted nuts, stone fruits, and a whiff of grassy malt with wafts of vanilla sponge and baking spice.
Palate
Rich caramel and soft stewed fruits, oaken vanilla, and roasted malt with hints of milky coffee.
Finish
Oily barley, baked walnuts, sweet honey and gently herbaceous spice.
