A very fine GlenAllachie single cask expression, aged in a Chinquapin Barrel (cask #4952) for 14 years. The 2010 vintage single malt was bottled at a boisterous 61.6% ABV.
Chinquapin oak – not a word you hear every day, but one you’ll be glad you learned. Native to the US, this quirky cask wood brings out bold spice, deep sweetness, and a distinct herbal edge.
This bottle was part of a private collection and may show signs of wear if of a certain vintage - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
A big hit of liquorice upfront, tempered by manuka honey’s earthy sweetness. Butterscotch and mocha follow in a swirl of richness, with crystallised ginger and cinnamon sugar adding warmth and lift. Think gingerbread latte meets oak cabinet.
Aniseed and vanilla extract spark things off, followed by a gooey mocha centre and a generous spoonful of treacle. There’s a floral lift (hello rose petals) and a velvety undercurrent of heather honey. Bold but balanced.
Long and layered, with ginger spice, dark toffee, and toasted oak sticking around for the encore.
