McConnell's was first established in Belfast by in 1776 by a pair of brothers, disappeared in 1958 and was then revived once more! This here is the 5 Year Old from the range, a blend that has been matured in American oak barrels. A enjoyably spicy Irish whiskey!
Somewhat floral, with notes of cedar, sweet spice and peppery oak.
Mace and earthy vanilla pod, with golden syrup and Crunchy bar.
Dark treacle and toasted spices.

Opened and tasted and I was not impressed. I wish I hadn't ordered it. After a few weeks l tried again. What a difference. I love it! It's very smooth, easy drinking. Lots of burn on my lips . It will drink well with dark chocolate. I'm really enjoying it and will order again
I hosted an international tasting session and The McConnell’s 5 year was a great hit. Its appeal was the smooth, sweet nose and caramel taste followed by a peppery kick. This will now be one of my regulars for blind tasting sessions. Great taste and exceptional value.
Pleasant easily drinkable , Comes a close second to the Tyrconnell in terms of value for money , But for a few £s extra the Tyrconnell wins out every time
Tried this instead of my usual Teelings, prefered its lighter more balanced notes of vanilla, oak, smoke - very easy drinking
with a mild burn/bite on the tail end, but very enjoyable. Worth buying again & keeping around for when you're in the mood to relax & not be challenged by anything extra strong or smoky. Good, honest, solid Irish whiskey.
